Former Captain of the Indomitable Lions, Théophile Abega is No More

 The Mayor of Yaoundé IV Council and former captain of the Indomitable Lions, Théophile Abega is no more. Théophile Abega according to information gathered died today morning in Yaounde at the General Hospital. In his capacity as the captain of the Indomitable Lions, he won the African Cup of Nations in 1984, and he is one of those who laid the foundation of Cameroon Football
Théophile Abega who was born on 9 July 1954 at Nkomo, Yaounde in the Center Region, it should be noted was voted the best African player in 1984, he was part of the Indomitable Lions who finished unbeaten World Cup 1982 in Spain. Two years later, he was the captain of the Lions winners of the African Cup of Nations. Théophile Abega started his football career with Canon Yaoundé and moved to Toulouse in France during the 1984-1985 season. When left politics he returned to Canon where he was team manager. The fame he gained in football later landed him into politics and he was voted Mayor of Yaounde IV
