The Yoke of Light ( Poem of the Week)

By Martin-Luther Fon Yembe

A source of hope for all she was
As bright as light in dark she shone
We danced along her shores for fun
And all along, we had no wars.
Below the mighty Fako foot
The free winds bearing all we need
And all around, we sowed the seed
That filled our homes, with all that’s good.
From down the coast to the grassfield
Uttering no more than “Good morning”
Filling our mouths with songs to sing
Lighting our souls with love fulfilled
From bright Yoke, we had our light
That shone for all, with less to spend
Though we now mourn, and curse and rend

We know for sure, all will be bright
